most-asked questions answered by renee gadar, Aveda global artistic director
Why is “quick-dry” important for a styling foam?
Quick-dry enables the setting of various styles and sets, particularly for textured hair guests. It also helps shorten dry time whether you blow-dry, diffuse or sit a hooded dryer.
And why is “flake-free” so important in a styling foam?
It is an expectation in a product like this. There is always a release with sets and wash-and go’s. This is why it’s so important to be flake-free.
How much should I use for my hair texture?
You really have to find the amount that best suits what you’re doing. Less for blowouts (2–4 pumps all over) or more on sets (1–2 pumps per flat twist section). You definitely want good saturation for sets and natural styling.
Can the Nutriplenish™ Styling Treatment Foam be used with a blow dryer for straightening the hair?
Yep. I love it for its quick-drying (reducing the amount of time heat is on the hair) benefit and that it’s lightweight and keeps blowouts airy.
Can I use other styling products with this?
Sure can! I personally love mixing it with a little Nutriplenish™ Curl Gelée for wet sets or diffusing. Because sometimes you want the finished style to feel lighter, but you may still need the added structure the gelée gives.
What is the perfect product partner for Nutriplenish™ Styling Treatment Foam?
Everything in the Nutriplenish™ line, my friends.
Do I need to blow-dry after applying the Nutriplenish™ Styling Treatment Foam? Does it work if I air-dry my hair?
You don’t need to blow-dry. It is great to use whether you blow-dry, diffuse or sit under a hooded dryer. But yes, you can use it with an air-dry style.
Would I still use the Nutriplenish™ Leave-In Conditioner?
I always use it because I need the slip for detangling. I also love that my styling product is still treating my hair. It is not one or the other.
